INKCANDY produces high quality typographic screen prints and is a combination of both film and design, founded by London based graphic designer Dave Young.
Being an 80’s kid, his first memories of film are largely from watching videotapes. Growing up Dave had neighbour who ran a video shop out the back of his Ford Fiesta XR2. He would stop by every Friday evening with an ever evolving library of cinematic treasures!
INKCANDY’S latest series ‘Close Up’ is inspired by Sergio Leone’s extreme close ups of eyes. Dave experiments with these moments, reinterpreting them through ideas and techniques found in both pop art and pointillism (a technique of neo-impressionist painting using tiny dots of various pure colours, which become blended in the viewer's eye. It was developed by Seurat with the aim of producing a greater degree of luminosity and brilliance of colour.) forcing us to look again.
